City Girl Swing Top / Skirt

The latest from Bug & Bell, The City Girl Swing Top / Skirt ~ this one can be worn as a skirt or shirt! Can it get any better than that?!

This little number is just so cute and versatile ~ perfect for summer days drinking lemonade and listening to good tunes, but it would also be great in the fall with a long sleeve top, tights, and maybe some glittery ballet flats? Don't you think?

I'm also working on some REALLY cute dresses and can't wait to show them off, so if you go Like my  facebook page then you can stay in the loop!

also, I have an etsy shop right here:

Mixed Media Skirt

After writing a post about the painted clothing trend the other day, I decided to give it a whirl myself. I took some fabric outside and hung it on the fence and then just played around with fabric paints while my girls painted a cardboard box (you know I needed a distraction!). Pink, orange, and yellow turned out to be my favorite - a sunny and cheerful color combination. (I did some green and blue too, but it didn't cut the mustard.) Then after letting it dry, I sewed a little skirt and added some "sunburst type thingies" with the sewing machine. Sometimes it's fun just to play around without having a plan in mind....I think this turned out cute for  what started out as an experiment!

It's called the 'Mixed Media' Skirt and it's a size 4 (for sale in my Bug & Bell Etsy shop right here if you're interested!)

Powder Room Inspiration Board

I've been stuck on a photo from a past Anthropologie catalog, I can't seem to get the color out of my head and am convinced that it would look amazing and quite dramatic in my small powder room.

We have walls that have a lot of texture in the powder room, and I would like to achieve the mottled look shown in the catalog, so I'm thinking I'll probably choose 3 paint colors and just blend them to my liking on the wall.

As you can tell by now, I'm drawn to greens and blues, something about fresh, nature inspired colors just make me happy! So why fight it any longer, I'm thinking I may have a new project on my hands and it might look something like this..........(this green is a little off, but it gives you the idea).....

Powder Room

I'm also kind of loving the slightly dark / Victorian feel of this concept.
I'll be sure to keep you posted on my progress. :)

A Bold Living Room - navy and emerald green

My sister, Blane, and her husband moved into their very first home a few months ago and it's been a slow work in progress as they also just had a baby! (you may remember this post about her nursery - it is really too precious!)This is the idea for Blane's living room ~ we are currently scouring antique and thrift stores to find all the right peices without spending a fortune. The living and dining room are actually one large room, so we chose a navy paint color to add a coziness and depth to the large space. We also want to add lots of light elements (such as the window treatments and upholstered chairs) and bold accent colors (like the emerald green console) to brighten the navy up a bit. I'm really excited and can't wait to see it all come together, I think it's going to be stunning!

{So this board is for you Blane ~ just needed to get my vision out on paper while I was thinking about it this morning.}

What we've been doing this summer

**Warning: Personal Post**

This summer is just flying by way too fast. We've been traveling for most of June ~ first to Memphis, then to the beach (twice) and then the mountains.

Here is what we've been doing instead of writing blog posts.

~Picking lots of goodness from the garden~

~Going to the zoo and celebrating birthdays with cousins in Memphis~

~Playing in the water as much as possible (p.s Cella learned how to swim this summer - hooray! - and she would want me to put emphasis on the fact that she can dive down to the bottom and get the rings.)~

 ~Learning how to play pool~

~Digging in the new sandbox that Papaw made  us~

~More swimming~

~And lots and lots of dress-up~

I'm working on a few projects (along with sewing my fanny off for Bug & Bell), and I'm really excited to share them all with you in the next few weeks!

Here's whats going on:

-2 Guest bedrooms in my mom's house
-My sister's living room
-My own living room
-My bedroom
-My girls' room don't think I've stopped posting about interior design, I'm just busy making progress and sometimes progress is slow going with children and life! I want to enjoy this summer and soak it in because my big girl starts school in August :(
