We have Ghosts!!

Well, not real ones just the ones that we hung from the trees in our front yard!! But really you never know.........

I just love Halloween and with the big day coming in one week, I've got costumes on the brain. This year we're going to be a family circus, here is the costume run down - Edie: Lion, John: Lion-tamer, Me: Clown, Cella: Tightrope Walker. Now, don't worry I'm not going to be a scary wierd adult clown, I'm going to be more of a silly cutesy clown. I don't want to scar my girls for the rest of their lives! And though Cella is going to be our tightrope walker to fit in with our theme, she will just be a mass of pink sparkles and glitter (which will make her extremely happy).

~ A few snaps of the costumes in progress ~

And of course, more photos to come after Halloween!

Here's wishing you a safe and spooky Halloween!!

Dining Room Decisions

Interior Design is not always a neat and tidy "Before and After", there is a lot of hard work in the middle that has to happen. And lots of decisions to be made. Here are a few that I'm contemplating at this moment........

In LOVE with the classic lines of my new sideboard, but.........does the mirror stay or go? and do I leave the finish as is or try to lime it like my original inspiration piece? (And if I choose to lime it, then how the heck does one lime something?)

Currently working on the driftwood mirror, almost finished, but now I'm contemplating whether I want to leave it alone or add a thin white wash to the wood. I'm leaning toward white wash, what do y'all think?

So as you can see progress is slow going, but that's how it works in the real world....every little decision takes time, especially when you add chilluns to the mix.

A trip to the Mountains

This weekend we took a little trip up to the beautiful blue ridge mountains.

Construction is complete on the McKay Mountain House, so we moved the furniture in and tried to get everything ready for our first Thanksgiving in the mountains. I was sooooo looking forward to getting out in the fresh mountain air, but on the second leg of our trip, about 20 minutes in, lil E' started vomiting. And then Cella followed suit (and continued to run a high fever the entire weekend). Needless to say it was an ordeal, but thank God we made it through and both girls are feeling much better. We still managed to get most of the furniture installed and accessorizing done and have a good time. We even went on one easy hike the last day when everyone was feeling a bit better.

Cella said "the mountains smelled good in her nose" and I told her that I knew exactly what she meant. I love that crisp tingly feeling of fresh mountain air.
And now for a little design ........
I also took a few snaps of the house when were leaving on Monday, we were in a rush to get on the road so excuse the poor photog skills! We still have to finish up most of the rooms, but it's really coming together and we are loving it! I made some notes on the photos of the incomplete items, some peices won't be in until late October. So I probably won't post complete photos until November.

This is the Living Room and I'm really loving the look, rustic but not over-the-top "lodge". We still need a few pieces - an end table and the leather chair/ottoman, but I think it will look great when it's finished.

This the master bedroom, one of my favorite rooms. I love the duvet cover from DwellStudio. It is so peaceful, the view from all of the windows is nothing but trees and mountains. It gives you the feeling of being in a treehouse. We still need a chair, a dresser, and some art......and the nightstands haven't come in yet. When the nightstands come in those small wooden "stump" tables will go in the living room next to the loveseat.

Did you notice my little helper in the photos? She had her camera too and was snapping away. She is so proffessional!

Discovered: Marbleized Pillow

My stylish friend Brooke sent me a text with this pillow in it.......she knows about my love for all things marbleized. Wouldn't it look awesome in the dining room?! Might have to put it on the Christmas list this year.

Thank you Brooke!

If you like it too, you can find it here.

And if you didn't know about my love for all things marbleized let me refresh your memory with an older post about the marbleized coffee table.
